AMC’s Immortal Universe begins with Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire, a series already renewed for a second season that follows the life and undeath of the vampire Louis de Point du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and his maker Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid).
This story is a major departure from the books in both time (no slave plantations, thankfully… but white folks are still white folking in the early 20th century and beyond) and the relationship between the two vampires. Here, they are unambiguously queer and in a sexual, toxic relationship. The first two episodes focus on Lestat preying on and eventually turning Louis, and then Louis’ struggles to maintain some part of his humanity as a vampire.
Our full discussion on both episodes is available on Patreon where we are currently two episodes ahead for our premium subscribers.
