This past Friday night, at an event for Emmy voters, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy revealed details about the upcoming season subtitled, ‘Coven.’
“The witches of Salem, the smart ones, got out very early and they were none of the ones who were burned. They all gravitated toward New Orleans, where they now live, and every generation has a great witch who has the most powers of them all, and that’s called the Supreme. Ms. Jessica Lange is the Supreme,” Murphy explained.
According to Murphy, the Salem witches will clash with the voodoo witches of New Orleans, led by Angela Bassett’s character, Marie Laveau.
The most exciting news surrounds Kathy Bates’ character, a famous serial killer named Marie Delphine LaLaurie, who, along with her husband, murdered slaves in the 1830s. Like the previous seasons, Coven will feature flashbacks in time along with its present day storyline.
Returning to season 3 are seasons 1 and 2 stars Lange, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters, plus newcomers to the franchise Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, and Patti LuPone.
