On October 1, Starz released the official trailer for season three of their Emmy®-winning pirate drama Black Sails. Created by Jonathan E. Steinberg (Jericho, Human Target) and executive produced by Michael Bay (the Transformers series, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon) Black Sails follows the exploits of the formidable Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and his able crew of the Walrus.
Season three intends to bring more adversity for Flint and his men as the balance of power shifts across the New World. The Spanish are dead set on recovering their stolen gold, as are their enemies hoping to find it for themselves. Tensions will crest higher than the waves themselves and war spanning across the seas is all but certain. The introduction of the infamous pirate legend Blackbeard, played by Ray Stevenson (Rome, Thor, Divergent), only complicates matters for the unraveling Flint.
As disclosed in the Starz press release:
In the wake of the burning of Charles Town, all the New World lives in fear of Captain Flint. But when his campaign of terror crosses over into madness, it falls to John Silver to locate the man within the monster before it’s too late. Meanwhile, with Eleanor Guthrie in prison, Jack Rackham oversees a new Nassau, hoping to secure his legacy as a king among thieves. All will be tested when a new threat arrives, one the pirates could never have anticipated. It knows them. It understands them. And in the blink of an eye, it will turn them against each other.
Additionally, Black Sails was renewed for a fourth season and will commence production this Fall in South Africa! Huzzah! Weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen! Prepare to feast your eyes on epic, bloody adventures this January on Starz.
