BluTuesday – March 5, 2013

Why hello, good people! Joseph here, and I’m bringing you the newest releases in Bluray for March 5, 2013. This week’s episode features a love dodecahedron, badass teenagers, and a video game come to life. All set? Pull up a chair and let’s get to it.

Playing for Keeps (PG-13)

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 4%

A former sports star who’s fallen on hard times starts coaching his son’s soccer team as a way to get his life together. His attempts to become an adult are met with challenges from the attractive soccer moms who pursue him at every turn. Starring Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Dennis Quaid, this movie is being released in a single disc Bluray + Ultraviolet copy and a single disc DVD + Ultraviolet copy. Look, if you like Gerard Butler because you think he’s dreamy, then go for what you know. If you like good movies, then you may want to keep it moving.

Playing For Keeps

Red Dawn (PG-13)

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 11%

Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), and Adrienne Palicki (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) deliver a full arsenal of pulse-pounding excitement in this explosive action-adventure! The unsuspecting citizens of Spokane, Washington, wake up one morning to the shocking sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky in a surprise attack on the United States. Soon the entire region is under enemy control, but a group of courageous teenagers has decided to fight back, waging an all-out war against the invaders, to take back their town – and their freedom! This movie comes in both a two disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version and a single disc DVD version. This is a remake that no one asked for, and we didn’t need. There are decent patches to it, but it’s really not necessary.

Red Dawn

Wreck-It Ralph (PG)

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 86%

From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph”. For decades, Ralph (John C. Reilly) has played the bad guy in his popular video game. In a bold move, he embarks on an action-packed adventure and sets out to prove to everyone that he is a true hero with a big heart. As he explores exciting new worlds, he teams up with some unlikely new friends including feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman). Then, when an evil enemy threatens their world, Ralph realizes he holds the fate of the entire arcade in his massive hands. Featuring an all-star voice cast and breakthrough bonus features that take you even deeper into the world of video games, Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph” has something for every player. This movie comes in a four disc Bluray 3D/Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version, a two disc Bluray/DVD + Digital Copy version, and a single disc DVD version. This movie is a lot of fun, and it gets my pick of the week.

  1. Anything with John C. Reilly is good. Wreck-It-Ralph will definitely be rented.

  2. We just bought the Blueray Wreak it Ralph yesterday. The kids love it. I am so thankful for the price included the regular DvD also so that we can use it in our van while traveling.
