Next week, espnW – in collaboration with Marvel Comics – will unveil the 2015 “IMPACT25”, a list of inspirational and dynamic women athletes and influencers that made a powerful mark in sports this year. Each nominee and the espnW Woman of the Year will be portrayed as their super selves respective to their remarkable talents, drawn by a bevy of talented Marvel artists.

“Each of the IMPACT25 honorees is incredible in their own right, be it on the field or in the boardroom,” said Alison Overholt, editor-in-chief, espnW. “There have been some truly superhuman accomplishments in the last year, and there is no one better than the artists of Marvel to depict these women as the heroes that they are.”

The first image released by espnW and Marvel features U.S. Women’s National Team star Carli Lloyd alongside Marvel superhero Captain Marvel. Lloyd lead her team to the United States’ third World Cup; additionally she earned the Golden Ball for her exceptional play throughout the tournament. Lloyd will be featured with her fellow honorees and their Marvel counterparts Monday, December 7 on espnW.com/Impact25.

Additionally, the Women of Marvel podcast – hosted by Sana Amanat, Adri Cowan, Judy Stephens and Emily Shaw – will guest on the debut episode of espnW’s Be Honest with Cari Champion on December 7. In turn, espnW’s Alison Overholt and Jennifer Holmes will appear on Women of Marvel in the near future.
