Last weekend, thousands of fans flocked to the Melbourne Showgrounds for the Melbourne stop of Supanova, Australia’s largest pop culture convention.
Focusing on comics, sci-fi and fantasy TV and film, anime, gaming, and collectibles, the convention is an oasis of nerdom, and this year welcomed its one-millionth fan through its doors.
In Melbourne we were treated to some phenomenal cosplay, special screenings, local and international comic artists, awesome exhibitions, and, of course, dozens of special guests. These included Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones), Allison Mack (Smallville), Manu Bennett (Arrow), Eka Darville (Jessica Jones), Adrianne Palicki (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Bonnie Wright (Harry Potter), Amy Acker (Person of Interest), Richard Harmon and Sachin Sahel (The 100), Sean Maher (Firefly), Daniel Sharman (Teen Wolf), Christopher Judge (Stargate SG-1), and many more.
Some Things I Learned
-For someone who plays such a convincing lesbian, Amy Acker has no gaydar. When she first met Neil Patrick Harris she was convinced that he had a crush on her!
-If she could have taken any souvenir from the set of Person of Interest she would have stolen one of Root’s leather jackets.
-Richard Harmon had no problem with Clarke sleeping with Niylah (aka Jessica Harmon [aka his sister]) on The 100. He did, however, have a problem with Bob Morley (Bellamy) holding his eyes open and making him watch the scene.
-He also looks dashing in a flower crown.
-Adrienne Palicki is #TeamIronMan.
-If she could play any other character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D it would be Melinda May, because she’s a lot like a quieter version of Bobbi.
-In a fight between Black Widow and Bobbi Morse she doesn’t think there would be a winner. They are both such great fighters that they’d get tired of fighting and go for a drink instead.
-She also revealed that Marvel are so secretive that no one, not even Brett Dalton, knew that Ward was a bad guy until the table read for the episode. Despite Ward’s betrayal she still has a soft spot for SkyeWard.
